Better Business Bureau Warns Seniors about Investment Fraud
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
The local Better Business Bureau is warning Coastal Bend Seniors about investment fraud.
"The main way seniors are being scammed these days are by their phones, as well as by the mail," said Tracy Bracy, Regional Director of the Better Business Bureau. "They are getting checks, fake letters, and they are really falling for them. It's important that we educate them in the different ways they are being targeted.
Bracy hosted a workshop Wednesday offering residents tips before making any kind of investment.
First always check out the investment professional. make sure the person making you an offer is licensed. Next, make sure the investment itself is registered with a regulator.
Most investors tend to purchase securities products that are registered with the SEC. For more information on avoiding investment fraud, the Better Business Bureau created the website, saveandinvest.org.
