City Officials Vote Against Moving Historical House to Kingsville
KINGSVILLE (Kiii News) -
Kingsville city commissioners have voted against a proposal that would have resulted in the move of a historical home formerly belonging to a member of the Kenedy family.
Kingsville Mayor Sam Fugate said there are simply too many unanswered questions about the Petra Vela Kenedy house and the proposal to move it from Old San Patricio to Kingsville.
Mifflin Kenedy and his wife, Petra Vela, lived in the house when it was on the Laureles Ranch, which later became the King Ranch. Kingsville's Tourism Director Bob Trescott wanted to move the house to Kingsville, restore it to its original glory and preserve it for future generations.
