Austin-bound plane diverted after passenger attempts to open door

AUSTIN -- An Air Tran flight from Baltimore bound for Austin was diverted Monday after an unruly passenger tried to open an emergency exit.

Air Tran flight 265 with 120 passengers and five crew members was safely diverted to Memphis, officials told KVUE News.

"AirTran flight 265 (120 customers and a crew of 5) safely diverted to Memphis to remove an unruly passenger," Air Tran Spokesperson Brad Hawkins said.

The FBI and TSA will now investigate the incident Hawkins said.

The plane was eventually cleared to complete its trip and made it to Austin.
