The Universal Little League All-Stars are still in Williamsport, Pa., playing pick-up games with other teams from around the world.
Their coach, Randy Ramirez, said they're building memories that will last a lifetime.
"It's been a great experience for us," Ramirez said. "Once you get to Williamsport, it's like they say, it's like Christmas."
The team will actually be taking on Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Thursday morning in a pick-up game. They will stay in Williamsport to watch the finals of the Little League World Series, and are expected to return to Corpus Christi on Monday.
They will certainly receive a heroes welcome. A parade in their honor is scheduled for next Tuesday, starting at 7 p.m. The parade route begins at the Art Center and goes down Shoreline to McCaughan Park.
Coach Ramirez said he and his team are overwhelmed by the community support they have received. In fact, they dedicated their last game, a win against Perth, Australia, to the people of Corpus Christi.
"We knew we had to get one for Corpus Christi, and we told the kids, lets go out and get one for Corpus Christi," Ramirez said. "Everybody has been backing them up, and they just went out there and did their jobs."
