No First-Day Delays, but CCISD Still in Need of Bus Drivers

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

As the new school year begins, there is concern at the Corpus Christi Independent School District about a shortage of bus drivers.

"I know that we were out there at all of the elementary campuses for the first drop off," CCISD Police Chief Kirby Warnke said. "I had all my officers at the elementary campus, and they haven't reported any problems with bus routes or anything like that."

There were no major delays or problems with the bus routes and schedules on Monday, but the number of drivers is still less than what they want. School administrators said that some applicants are still being trained as bus drivers, and that should help bolster the staff of drivers.
