Health officials with the Nueces County have confirmed the first case of the West Nile Virus this year.
According to the Nueces County Public Health District, the patient is a female between 20-30 years of age. They said the patient became ill over two weeks ago, and has been in the hospital for three days.
At last check, the female patient is recovering and doing well.
Health officials urge people to remember the four D's:
Dusk and dawn are times to avoid outdoor activities; dress in long sleeves and pants when outside; DEET is the ingredient to look for in repellants; and drain all standing water.
