Excitement filled the Bayfront Tuesday night as the Universal Little League All-Stars were given their big welcome home parade.
The team has spent the last couple of weeks in Williamsport, Pa., representing Corpus Christi in the Little League World Series.
It was a Texas sized homecoming as hundreds lined Shoreline Boulevard to celebrate their return. People cheered on the young athletes as the team waved to their fans.
Universal Little League are the first team from Corpus Christi to make it to the Little League World Series. They had to win both the state title and the regional titles in order to make it there.
Earlier in the day, the kids and their families were treated to a big feast at Allen Samuels Chevrolet. Folks at the dealership said they got involved early in the year when they sponsored a free baseball clinic for the kids, and assisted them with travel and uniform costs.
Some of the kids even took time to autograph some baseballs, which will be raffled off for an American Cancer Society event.
The accolades didn't stop there. The coaches and players will be treated to a free dinner at Katz 21 late in the week, and on Sunday, they will appear on Domingo Live. Then, on Sunday night, they will be special guests at Whataburger Field as the Corpus Christi Hooks play.
