Incoming Judge David Stith Reflects on Gubernatorial Appointment
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Governor-appointed Attorney David Stith is set to take over as judge of the 319th District Court, filling the unexpired term of the late Judge Tom Greenwell.
That term comes to an end in November of 2014.
On Thursday, the incoming judge spent some time with people who will help him run his court, including the court manager, court clerk, court reporter and his bailiff. Stith reflected on the significance of his gubernatorial appointment.
"You know, the first thing I think about is, it's going to be very hard to fill the shoes of Judge Greenwell," Stith said. "We got to be friends during my last campaign, and I got to spend time with him at his house. He was very open and showed me how he ran his campaign. We got to be pretty close, and it's difficult, obviously; but it's also an honor for me to be able to come in here, and for the governor to believe that I can do a good job and serve my community."
Stith is a former judge of Court at Law #3 in Nueces County. He will be sworn into his district judgeship in September.
