City of Corpus Christi Cracking Down on Late Utility Bill Payments

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Starting next week, the City of Corpus Christi will be cracking down on residents who do not pay their utility bills on time.

Starting Tuesday, customers will get 30 days from the due date to pay up. If they don't, they could be disconnected.

Finance Director Constance Sanchez said 14-percent of the city's 95,000 utility customers are considered slow pays.

"It's a couple of million dollars, and that's annually, and that's a lot of money," Sanchez said. "So we are trying to keep everybody's water rates down by making sure that whoever receives service, pays for that service."

Sanchez said that, if your service is disconnected, you will have to pay your entire outstanding bill to have your it reconnected. You can also make payment arrangements if you contact the City before your bill is due.
