In part III of the premiere of the Friday Night Sports Blitz:
The Gregory-Portland Wildcats hit the road for their 2013 opener as the played at Laredo LBJ. The 'Cats offense sputtered early with a new cast of offensive lineman, but came to life late in the second quarter behind the determined running of Devin Bisby. G-P gets in the winning column with a 33-13 victory over LBJ.
One of the night's bigger surprises came from Banquete, where the Bulldogs were routed on their home field by Mathis. The Pirates, under new coach Tim Holt, rolled to a 43-7 win.
The Taft Greyhounds avenged last year's season-opening loss but rolling over John Paul II 48-0 at John Paul. The usually ground-oriented Taft offense put up some impressive passing yardage as well.
