Javelinas Hold Scrimmage Before Opener Next Saturday

KINGSVILLE (Kiii Sports) - Texas A&M-Kingsville coach David Calloway has yet to name a quarterback, and he's hoping he found one Saturday at the Javelinas' scrimmage.

Senior Dean Brantley and Freshman Alex Rios both got reps with the first team Saturday. The two are in competition to replace Nate Poppell who graduated. Calloway is expected to name a starter in the next few days before the season opener at Central Washington Saturday, September 7th.

    Corpus Christi Police say two people are under arrest for capital murder in connection to the death of a 6-year-old boy, Wednesday night. Officers have not yet released the names of the suspects, or their relationship with the child.The death happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of Fig St. Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of the boy having seizures; he was rushed to Driscoll Children's Hospital where he later died.More >>
