In Flour Bluff, crews were busy early Tuesday morning trying to tame a house fire.
The blaze started around 2:45 on Anchor Street and Navy Drive near the NAS entrance. The homeowners 13-year-old autistic child, Chris, was missing at the time of the blaze. Firefighters found the boy hours later hiding under a truck a few blocks away.
Fire investigators say the house is a total loss. The homeowner says he heard a loud boom just before the blaze.
"I just heard what sounded like gunshots," said Wes Pugh. "We got up and the front room was engulfed in flames. We couldn't even get out the front door."
Detectives are still determining the cause of the fire. The parents inside the home were not injured.
