A fatal accident involving an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck claims the life of a man Tuesday afternoon. Texas Department of Public Safety investigators say the driver of the pick-up slammed into the back of the 18-wheeler.
"The status of the individual in the pickup truck, he passed away at Spohn Memorial Hospital and no death notification have been made to the family yet," said DPS Trooper Nathan Brandley.
The front end of the red pickup truck is nearly completely destroyed. It was around 1:30PM Monday afternoon, when state highway patrol officials tell us the driver of that truck collided with the back of a big rig which had stopped on Weber to make a left turn.
Troopers say the big rig had it's turn signal on and was waiting for oncoming traffic to clear when the crash happened.
Troopers are now looking into why the pickup truck didn't stop, or slowed down before the collision. No age for the driver has been revealed yet, as the family is still being notified.
