Rollover Accident on Ayers, SPID After Driver Runs Red Light
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A driver running a red light caused a rollover accident just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Ayers and SPID.
According to police, the driver of a purple Challenger ran the red light and struck a sport utility vehicle that was heading southbound. The SUV ended up rolling over, and its driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said they are not sure why the driver of the Challenger ran the red light, but urged drivers to pay close attention to traffic lights while driving.
"Pay attention. Slow down. Take your time," said Javier Cantu of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Make sure you're looking up instead of down on the phone, or anything, everything else in the way."
The driver of the purple Challenger received a citation for running the red light.
