Minor Fire at Santa Fe Business Controlled, Put Out Quickly
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Firefighters said the timing made all the difference in preventing a minor fire from turning into a real disaster Wednesday afternoon.
The fire broke out at around 4:30 p.m. at a business on Santa Fe Street. Employees noticed smoke coming from the floors and vents. Firefighters said the blaze began in the sub-floor area.
"We're really fortunate it occurred when people were here. Otherwise, it probably could have gotten pretty bad," said Battalion Chief David Saenz of the Corpus Christi Fire Department. "Middle of the night, it certainly would have been a whole lot worse than what it is now."
Fortunately, there was no serious damage to the building and no one was hurt in the fire.
