Sign Up to Receive Emergency Notifications with Reverse Alert
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
The purpose of Reverse Alert, a new mass-notification system adopted by the Coastal Bend, is to deliver information about major emergencies or natural disasters as quickly as possible.
"An informed public is our best protection in times of emergency," said Senior Officer Kirk Stowers of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Arming people with the information rather than us telling people what to do, we provide them their own decisions."
Stowers said the Reverse Alert system will notify residents of events like a major car accidents that result in roads being shut down, or bee attacks in neighborhoods where residents are advised to stay inside, etc.
All you have to do is sign up to receive a phone call or a text message.
"There is no cost to join this system," Stowers said. "We want everyone to go to ReverseAlert.org. It doesn't cost any money. We will provide those notifications to you when the emergency arises."
It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up and be empowered with information about critical events in our community. Just go to www.reversealert.org.
