9/11 Patriot Run Event Brings in $10,000 for First Responders
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
The second annual 9/11 Patriot Run was held this weekend, and despite the rainy weather, officials from the City of Corpus Christi are calling it a success.
Hundreds of people showed up at the event, held at Sherrill Park Saturday, to pay respect to the first responders that died on 9/11 12 years ago. A special ceremony was held, along with a moment of silence, after which participants hit the pavement for a 5K walk/run.
City officials said they raised about $10,000 at the event, all of which will help buy equipment that first responders may need and pay for training.
