CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

An ceremony was held at around 4 p.m. Thursday for governor-appointed Attorney David Stith as he takes over as judge of the 319th district court.

Stith will be filling the unexpired term of Judge Tom Greenwell, which comes to an end in November of next year. The seat was left open after Greenwell took his life on July 15.

The incoming judge spent some time with the people who will help him run his court, including the court manager, court clerk, court reporter and his bailiff. Stith has confirmed that, once his term ends in November of 2014, he will run for the 319th district court as a Republican candidate.
