CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

An unwanted guest at the Texas State Aquarium caused a dangerous situation for staff there Monday afternoon.

Police said it was just before 2 p.m. when a homeless man jumped into one of the fountains on the Aquarium grounds, grabbing coins that were thrown in there. When staff came out to confront the man, a scuffle ensued.

At one point, the homeless man even brandished a large kitchen knife.

Eventually, police got to the scene and arrested the man.

"He is a homeless guy. He has been arrested before for several offenses," said Senior Officer Richard Olden of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "He is actually intoxicated right now, so he is going to go to jail for public intoxication. He also received a criminal trespass from the police department and the Aquarium, so he can't come back here anymore."

Fortunately, none of the Aquarium staff were injured during the struggle with the suspect.
