CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

San Patricio County Sheriff Leroy Moody has been at Christus Spohn Shoreline since having a heart attack, but is reportedly resting peaceably and is improving.

The sheriff does remain in the intensive care unit, however.

Moody's family said that they appreciate all the prayers and support given to Sheriff Moody. Law enforcement agencies around the state are wishing him the best and offering their prayers as well.

Sheriff Moody is the third longest running sheriff in the state of Texas. He has been in office as sheriff in San Patricio County for the last 24 years and nine months, and has been in law enforcement since 1966, when he first started as a dispatcher.  He was eventually promoted to chief deputy.

Moody is in his seventh term as sheriff and has run unopposed for the last two terms.
