CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The biggest oil field expo in South Texas is going on at the American Bank Center through Thursday.

Thousands of oil industry professionals are expected to tour two floors of exhibitors' booths, as well as 60,000 feet of outdoor heavy equipment displays, before the end of the event.

The South Texas Oil Field Expo features speakers, conferences and a trade show.

"What we're trying to do here is create an environment where buyers and sellers and other oil field professionals can come together, network, find out about new technology and make their best deals," said Amy Dible, and organizer of the Expo.

Some 500 businesses have booths at the Expo to sell services and products to those in the oil industry.

Meanwhile, a Corpus Christi native is visiting his hometown as an exhibitor at the Expo.

Dan Henderson has started a first of its kind company bringing oil field equipment and buyers together through the Internet.

"Really a passion I had for the web, and what was lacking in the oil and gas industry, I started drilling exchange dot com," Henderson said.

Henderson said that so far, his online company has been a big success. The website is www.drillingx.com.
