Girl Scouts Headquarters Burglarized Late Wednesday Night

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The new headquarters for the Girl Scouts of South Texas, on Ayers and Bevcrest, was vandalized and burglarized just after 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.

"Even though we knew about it, it was still devastating to see the building that we just moved into, that we were so proud of, be vandalized and robbed," said Kelly Trevino of the Girl Scouts of South Texas. "It was quite a shock."

Folks who run the nonprofit said the thieves cut a fence and broke a window with a rock to get inside of the building. They then took a cash register that contained $150.

Trevino said that, when she received the news of the burglary, it was devastating; but, she said, everything happens for a reason.

"You know, that's why we want to get up and running as fast as we can. We. Our girls," Trevino said. "Bad things happen. There is more good in the world than bad, so we'll get right back to work."

If you have any information regarding this crime, please call Crime Stoppers at 361-888-8477. You don't have to give your name, and you could receive a cash reward.
