Corpus Christi Medical Center Employees Hold Safety Fair

Posted: Updated:

Employees with the Corpus Christi Medical Center are participating in a safety fair meant to educate workers about patient safety.

The two-day conference is for all 1,200 Medical Center employees. Different safety topics were discussed Thursday, including employee emergency room procedures and making sure patients have received the right prescription medications.

Hospital administrators said safety is a top priority at the hospital.

"I'm hoping that they will get their knowledge in order to make patients and to make them safe," said Jo Teichman of the Corpus Christi Medical Center.

"I just want them to walk away with a general idea of a healthy diet," said Whitney Vitellaro, a dietetic intern at Doctors Regional Hospital. "How to make those patients supplement choices. They can look at a patient and suggest a supplement without us having to be asked. It's a good idea for everyone to know what's necessary for each patient."

Organizers said employees are also required to get the flu shot while they are attending the two-day fair.
