Lawmakers and oil industry experts will be in Corpus Christi on the weekend of Oct. 28 for the Eagle Ford Shale Consortium's fall conference.
A news conference was held Friday morning to let everyone know about the upcoming event, which will be held at the Omni Bayfront Hotel. The event is going to cover issues ranging from expected oil production and regulations to new laws to deal with the growing industry.
"The message here is that our region, our region is going to be transformed to something that has never happened before," Port Commissioner Richard Borchard said. "And we're going to explain why people are making millions, and how those millions are being managed. and the impact it's going to have in our community."
"We'll be talking about how the economic impacts are tremendous," said Leodoro Martinez, chairman of the Eagle Ford Consortium. "We have communities that are now generating 10 times what they were generating three years ago, in terms of sales tax. In terms of ad valorem taxation."
Officials said that Eagle Ford will have an economic impact on the state of Texas of some $91 billion by 2021.
