CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - Mother Nature stepped in to cut short most of our high school football games on Friday night.
Carroll and Calallen did manage to start, but not finish their much-awaited showdown at Calallen. The Wildcats led 7-3 when play was halted due to lightning with five minutes to play in the first half. After an hour and forty-five minute delay, and much discussion, the two schools opted to call it a night in a game that will go down in the books as a 7-3 win for Calallen.
Despite a steady rain, Falfurrias and John Paul II did get in just over a half of action. The Jerseys raced to a 33-0 halftime lead and managed to add another score before lightning again forced coaches to clear the stands and the field with Falfurrias leading 40-0.
