Beaumont police catch burglar in the act

A 51-year-old Beaumont man faces burglary of a habitation charge for breaking into a garage at a home on the 1300 block of Broadway.  Around 12:25a.m. Saturday morning patrol officers responded to a reported burglary in progress. The homeowner was awakened by loud noises coming from his attached garage.  He saw a man prowling through his cars.  

According to police the burglar was holding a piece of lawn equipment when they spotted him in an alley near the garage. Officers arrested the burglary suspect identified as Warren C. Reed of Beaumont following a brief foot chase. Reed was  transported  to the Jefferson County jail and booked for burglary of a habitation.
