Two WWII POW's Reunited, Honored During Ceremony

Posted: Updated:
SINTON (Kiii News) -

Manuel Granado hadn't seen his old war buddy Boyd Engle for 69 years, but the Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter in Sinton brought them together, and on Sunday the community came out to honor the two men.

The last time the two had seen each other was during World War Two. The men were surrounded by Germans and Engle was severely injured. Both were taken as POWs. Engle said Manuel saved his life.

Engle said, "he's my hero. He didn't have to do it, and probably did save me. He was certainly a big help."

Manuel's granddaughter Christina Quintanilla said," were very honored to have a grandfather who is such a hero. At 96 years old, he's always been such a hard worker. We admire him, and we are so lucky to have witnessed the event."
