She says sitting around is not for her, so for years, an 88-year old woman has volunteered her time to the Better Business Bureau to help keep scammers at bay.
Margie Scarborough is not a native of Corpus Christi -- she was born in east Texas; but she's lived here for so long, she calls the Coastal Bend her home.
Long retired, Scarborough chose not to sit around, even after being involved in a bad traffic accident. At 88-years young, she has volunteered for the past nine years with the Better Business Bureau.
"It was real exciting to find out what they really did, and I like to help people," Scarborough said. "I chose the BBB because it was interesting and it could help people."
Scarborough has put in over 5,000 hours of volunteer service with the Better Business Bureau since she started volunteering for them.
"It's a lot of hours, but I don't consider it hours," Scarborough said. "I mean, it was just interesting and fun to do."
Her work ethic is amazing, and her drive is unstoppable. Kiii 3News caught up with her on her last day of volunteering for the Better Business Bureau, but she is not walking away from helping people. She will be reassigned to another non-profit organization as she continues to be a valuable member of the Senior Corps Volunteer Program.
