Decomposed Body Found in Trunk; Possible Ties To Missing Fort Worth Woman

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- An abandoned car discovered in Falls County is under investigation after a decomposed body was found in the trunk.

The vehicle was a 1997 Lincoln Town Car found in Falls County. It was spotted in some tall brush along County Road 414 just north of Highway 7.

Authorities retrieved the vehicle and towed it to the DPS facility in Lacy Lakeview for inventory. Upon discovering the remains inside, McLennan County Justice of the Peace David Paryea was called to investigate.

Paryea said the body was very decomposed, but appeared to be a woman. The body was sent to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas for an autopsy.

The cause of death is not yet known. While the body has not been identified, authorities believe the car may hold new leads in a missing persons case from earlier this year.

Adrian Denise Thornton, 59, was reported missing by her neighbors in Fort Worth in June of this year. Some of her property was located between Martin and Chilton. Highway 7 was searched, but at the time no evidence was found.

DPS Trooper D.L. Wilson reported that the records confirm the Lincoln was from Tarrant County and belonged to Thornton. Fort Worth police are handling the investigation.
