TAMUCC Hosts Student Health Fair for Hispanic Heritage Month
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A health fair was held Tuesday for students at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Senior nursing students at TAMUCC provided free health screenings at the event, with university faculty participating as well to provide educational information on diabetes, high cholesterol and hypertension.
Students also had a chance to watch a healthy food demonstration.
"It's good for them," TAMUCC nursing student Ace Tardo said. "We get a lot of teaching in general health teaching health education."
"It's a great idea," TAMUCC student Sam Schlinger said. "I mean, it gets the students more involved, and this is where most of the students are walking here, right here."
The event was just one of many that the school will be hosting as part of the university's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
