14th Annual Grandparents Expo at American Bank Center
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A conference was held early Wednesday morning aimed at getting answers for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren and have questions.
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services hosted their 14th annual Grandparents Expo at the American Bank Center Wednesday. The expo gave grandparents a chance to meet one-on-one with experts regarding custody and other legal issues, and it was all for free.
"I started taking care of my grandson because I lost my job, and I take care of all the bills, and I'll take care of you, and then we found out my grandson was ADD and he's not taking any medication," said Ana Marquez, a grandparent who is raising her grandson. "So that helps. A lot of information on what to do and don't do in raising him."
Organizers say they hope to give grandparents and other relatives who are raising children a chance to provide information on other various community resources that are available to families.
