JIM WELLS COUNTY (Kiii News) -
After more than 10 hours of deliberation, a mistrial was declared Thursday in a high profile murder case in Jim Wells County.
Vidal Ben Garcia III was on trial for allegedly killing his common law wife in January of last year. The alleged crime took place inside the restroom at the Texas Department of Health and Human Services in Alice.
The jury in the case was split seven to five on a verdict. Declaring a mistrial means that the case will be tried again at a later date with a new jury.
