Locals Participate in First Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic of 2013
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Many took part in a drive-thru flu shot clinic Friday at the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District facility.
"We would rather protect them early on so they can protect others," Public Health Director Annette Rodriguez said.
Officials said the first 50 flu shots were free, and already paid by the county. In total, they issued 142 vaccinations.
"This was my opportunity to get it early and to get it free," said Elvia Hernandez, who received a flu shot at the event. "I'm without insurance right now, and I have to wait for this new reform act to kick in and that won't happen until at least January."
Health District officials said they plan to host another flu shot drive in Robstown in a couple of weeks.
