Bond Set at $35,000 for Store Owner Accused of Killing Robbery Suspect

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A store owner accused of shooting and killing a robbery suspect has been charged with murder. The store owner has been identified as 51 year old Rodney James Duve. The shooting happened Saturday night on the 2000 block of South Staples near Del Mar College.

Police say when they arrived they found a 39 year old man on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. Police say the store owner shot the man who was trying to steal a case of beer.

The man was transported to Spohn Memorial where he was pronounced dead. Duve's bond has been set at $35,000 dollars. It's unknown if the suspect was armed. Police say they are still investigating.
