Alice Health Center Helping Patients Sign Up for Affordable Care Act
ALICE (Kiii News) -
In Alice, a number of uninsured residents showed up at the Community Action Corporation Health Center to get help signing up for Affordable Care Act health insurance.
The main crux of the partial government shutdown centers around the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, which kicked off Tuesday.
One patient said that the new healthcare option is going to be a real lifesaver for her.
"It's important for my health. I've been sick before," Yvonne Lopez said. "It's hard to get help when you don't have insurance. Now I'm going to be able to see the doctor, and hopefully I'll be healthy from here on out."
"We're here to guide them through the application process," said Trisha Villarreal, patient and community education specialist. "If they have any questions about what tax credits they are eligible for, what is a better route for them if they qualify for Medicaid as well; we actually do assist them with that as well."
