Breast Cancer Awareness Event at the American Bank Center
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it was a sea of pink at the American Bank Center Tuesday, all with the purpose of putting the spotlight on breast cancer prevention.
"As a physician, I hear it everyday," said Dr. Rebecca Stackhouse with Radiology Associates. "Some women say it's several years since their last mammogram, and they have a mass they can feel, and it's sad because, had they come earlier, we could have caught that when it was smaller."
Radiology Associates teamed up with the American Bank Center Tuesday to remind everyone, men and women, about the importance of mammograms. They launched the "No Excuses" and "Pink Ticket" campaigns.
The Pink Ladies even showed up. They visually represent the sobering statistic that one-in-eight women has breast cancer.
Doctors say mammograms are key to early detection.
