A young woman was lucky to escape serious injury after she was involved in an accident with a Regional Transportation Authority bus on Wednesday, according to police.
"It's amazing she's not hurt. She took a pretty good hit," said Senior Officer Marty Jasso of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "The side airbags did deploy, so I'm sure that helped quite a bit."
The accident happened around 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Leopard and Artesian. Police said the female driver of a sport utility vehicle failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, causing the bus to collide with her.
The driver of the SUV did receive a citation for the incident, and three people onboard the bus were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
