City Considers Paying Off Whataburger Field to Focus on Fixing Streets
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
It has been a crown jewel of the downtown area, recognized nationally for being among the best minor league baseball facilities, and the City is considering a plan to finish paying it off.
Whataburger Field opened back in 2005. The City wants to use reserve funds to pay off the note on the stadium. The plan would then be to ask for voters to approve the idea of redirecting the 1/8-cent sales tax that had been paying off the field to instead help rebuild city streets.
Kiii News Reporter Michael Gibson went Live at Whataburger Field with the details.
