Better Business Bureau Warns Locals of "Pink Washing" Scam
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and some people are taking advantage of donor generosity. That is why the local chapter of the Better Business Bureau is warning the public against donation scams.
"It's a non-regulated symbol, so companies can actually use it to say they support breast cancer, but not necessarily collecting donations for in support of breast cancer," said Tracy Bracy, Regional Director.
The BBB is calling the scam "pink washing." Bracy recommends doing your research before donating to any charity. Visit bbb.org/charities for a list of reputable charities.
