TAMUCC Students Play Lotería for Hispanic Heritage Month
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Some Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi students were trying their luck with an old fashioned game of lotería on Tuesday.
"Lotería is the Mexican version of Bingo," said Dina Ruiz of the Island Cultural Alliance. "And it's one of the events for our Hispanic Heritage Month, which kicked off on the 16th."
The event was held on campus at the University Center around lunchtime. Students competed for various prizes, like laundry baskets with detergent and food.
"I think it's better than regular Bingo," student Leslie Rae Wilson said. "It's a little more interactive. And it make you think. Especially if Spanish isn't your native language. You kind of have to think and move really fast at the same time."
