Preparing for the 20th Annual Roar by the Shore Bike Fest
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
As many as 20,000 motorcyclists are descending on Corpus Christi this weekend for the Roar by the Shore Bike Fest.
It's the 20th annual Bike Fest, but it's the first time that the Fest is being held in Corpus Christi. Organizers held a news conference Wednesday at the American Bank Center, where exhibitors and the public can check out motorcycles and accessories.
Convention and Visitors Bureau President Keith Arnold said the economic impact on the city will be big.
"It's going to be at least $5.5 million, if not more. Right now, the range could be $16,000-$20,000. They were two and half times the registration where they were last year at the same time yesterday," Arnold said. "We're expecting a big weekend. People in restaurants, bars, motels, retail, attractions. So it's a great weekend for us in the off season."
Besides concerts by Travis Tritt and Joan Jett and the Black Hearts, the four-day rally will feature a motorcycle parade Saturday night from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, down Ocean and Shoreline, to the American Bank Center.
