Rockport Police Identify Suspect in Beating of Two Men

Posted: Updated:
ROCKPORT (Kiii News) -

Rockport police have identified a suspect wanted in connection with the brutal beating of two men Tuesday night.

Police are looking for 32-year old David Anthony White of San Antonio. He was described as standing over six-feet tall with tattoos covering both arms.

Investigators believe that White was invited into a home in the 1200 block of Enterprise before the assault took place.

"The suspect in this case was in the residence and knew the victims, and that's why the alarm was activated when the suspect left the residence," Rockport Police Commander Mark Cory said.

That burglar alarm summoned police to the home, where officers found two male residents, a 72-year old and a 56-year old, both severely beaten. Both men remain at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Residents in the area are shaken, but they are not too worried.

"It scares me," neighbor Sylvia Brannies said. "It scares me, but then again, I know we have people that can take care of things like that. So that's a good thing."

"Most of us know each other right here, and it's a good place to live," neighbor Norman Killough said. "Even with that happening."

Police say White faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and those charges could be upgraded to include assaulting the elderly and disabled, both of which are first-degree felonies.

White is considered extremely dangerous, so police ask that you avoid confronting the suspect and instead call the Rockport Police Department at 361-729-1111 if you see him.
