TAMUCC Students Develop, Launch New Crime Reporting App

Reporting crimes on the campus of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi just got a whole lot easier thanks to a new, high-tech solution.
A new interactive app developed by computer science students at TAMUCC has just been launched. It allows students and faculty to easily connect with the University Police Department 24 hours a day.
With the simple push of a button -- or "touch" of a button, to be more accurate -- the University Police can be called. The app also makes it easier to send photos and email to the campus police department.
"We here at the computer lab are always looking for projects that support our mission, and at the same time, are useful to the community," TAMUCC's Dr. Ahmed Mahdy said. "With that being said, this app was actually a great project. We had our students developing this for our students. It was a win-win situation."
The app, called the Island Watch app, is available for both Apple and Android phones. The links are below, if you wish to download it:
