Ingleside Residents Consider Recall of Elected Officials

Posted: Updated:
INGLESIDE (Kiii News) -

Some Ingleside residents are considering a recall of elected officials after a vote to allow Koch Industries to develop land near their homes.

"They're not representing us, because if they were they would have done something different than what they had done," said one resident.

Councilman Paul Pierce met with the upset residents Thursday night. Area leaders approved a rezoning request by Koch who is looking to purchase 640 acres of land to expand operations at the Flint Hills Plant. People we spoke with are worried there is not enough of a buffer zone between their property and the --now-- industrial area.

"The council needs to understand how the citizens feel," said Pierce. "There were a lot of people who showed up at the meeting, but I'm not sure that they understand how passionate these folks are about this and how it's going to impact our community."

Residents will have another opportunity Tuesday, October 22nd to express their concerns before council approves the land for Koch Industries.
