18-Wheeler Jackknifed After Hydroplaning Along I-37
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A crash on I-37 caused major delays Sunday morning. The Interstate was reduced to one lane for several hours.
The accident happened on I-37 NB near Redbird Lane shortly before 11:00 a.m. Investigators say an 18-wheeler jackknifed after hydroplaning through heavy rain.
That big rig slammed into a barricade puncturing one of the tanks. Diesel fuel leaked all over the freeway.
Lt. James Garrett, Corpus Christi Police Department, says,"Diesel fuel come out and most of it out by the time we out here they put an absorbent on the roadways and the environmental company is on its way."
Lt. James Garrett says on one was injured. Traffic opened up three hours after the accident.
