The Mother Teresa Shelter invited their many donors and benefactors to a gathering Monday to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
"It was nice, and beautiful program, and it turned out very good," Sister Rose Paul Madassery said. "Everyone appreciates what we do here, and the people are thankful to our facility."
The Mother Teresa Shelter is dedicated to serving food and sheltering homeless men and women here in Corpus Christi. In the last 10 years, the Shelter has served more than three quarters of a million people.
"When we truly got down to looking at it, we served over 800,000 people in this shelter," volunteer Ricky Carrasco said. "It's just amazing to be part of that and witness that."
"Very much so, in fact, on the weekends, it's very hard to find a place to eat." said Jesse Garcia, who is staying at the Mother Teresa Shelter. "I'm very thankful for the shelter, which I'm staying in and, of course, all of the churches and volunteers that provide meals for everybody in my situation."
On Nov. 12, you can help the Mother Teresa Shelter or any number of local non-profit charities as part of the Coastal Bend Day of Giving, which Kiii-TV is a proud sponsor of. Just go to www.coastalbenddayofgiving.org.
