One Man Behind Bars, Second Man on the Run After Robbery
ROCKPORT (Kiii News) -
A man wanted for trying to rob an Rockport homeowner is on the run after his accomplice in the crime was shot by the senior they tried to steal from.
Investigators say 25-year-old Corey Waldrip of Aransas Pass was found with a gun shot wound to the neck early Sunday morning. Detectives say Waldrip and 27-year-old Michael Triplett went to the senior's home asking for gas. That man --in his 70s-- gave them gas, but say both men returned with a .22-caliber gun. The senior pulled out a .44 and shot at the men injuring Waldrip.
"He steps out in the middle of the night to help two guys that are stranded, but he also grew up in a time and with enough fortitude that he realized this was not what it was set up to be earlier," said Aransas County Sheriff Bill Mills.
Sheriff Mills says Waldrip is in Aransas County Jail. Both men will face a charge of aggravated robbery.
