TAMUCC Panel Discussion About the State's Water Needs
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A panel discussion was held at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Wednesday to talk about supplying the state's future water needs.
State Representative Abel Herrero hosted the discussion focusing on the state's latest water plan, and specifically Proposition 6 on the upcoming November ballot. If it's approved, it will provide $2 billion from the state's rainy-day fund to pay for water projects across the state.
State Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa said the plan should benefit the entire state.
"Water is a necessity. It is not a luxury," Hinojosa said. "It is key to our quality of life. It's key to our economy, and it's key to the future of our state."
Voters will have the chance to decide the fate of Proposition 6 on Nov. 5.
