IRS Delaying Tax Filing Start Date Due to Government Shutdown
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Thanks to the partial government shutdown, you will now have more time to file your taxes next year.
The Internal Revenue Service said it will delay the start of the tax filing season by up to two weeks. In a statement, the IRS said the move was necessary to allow "adequate time to program and test tax processing systems" following the 16-day federal government closure.
The original 2014 filing season was set to being Jan. 21. The IRS will announce a new filing start date in December.
