Travis Elementary Students Get Lesson in Being Drug Free
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
For many schools around the area, this week is Red Ribbon Week, and on Tuesday, students at Travis Elementary got a firsthand look at just where they could end up if they choose the wrong path and experiment with illegal drugs.
"We just want to get the message out to the kids about being drug free and the dangers of doing drugs," said Senior Officer Javier Cantu of the Corpus Christi Police Department.
Students got an up close and personal look at a jail, and at the tools that law officers use to track down drug dealers, including a special sport utility vehicle. At the end of the day, students took the Red Ribbon pledge, promising never to use illegal drugs.
